The Local Governing Body

The role of  the Local Governing Body is to work in close partnership with the Trustees,  Headteacher, staff, families, pupils and the wider stakeholder community to develop a poitive and successful learning environment.

The main duties of the Local Governing Body are to :

  • Set the strategic direction of the school.
  • Set appropriate targets for pupil achievement at the end of the Key Stage.
  • Set the school budget (Trustees approve).
  • Approve the school development plan and the self-evaluation form.
  • Review progress against the school's budget and objectives.
  • Challenge and support the headteacher.

Our governors come from a variety of backgrounds and posess a wide skillset. They attend two formal meeting each term; the Full Governing Board Meeting and the Education and Standards Committee. In addition, as part of their roles, individual governors meet with identified staff.

Knowing the school and the pupils is key to an effective local governing body. To ensure that they fulfill their role, the members of the local govening body visit the school regularly to meet the children and staff, listening to their opinions and sharing in their successes.
